The Pattern (UK Terms)
Foundation: With Hasselt, loosely ch78 plus ch2. If you are making a larger blanket, work an even number plus ch2.

Yarn over and pull through all five loops on your hook. Continue to work htr-cl until you reach the end of the row. Ch2 and turn.
Row 2: Yarn over and insert hook into the bottom of the turning ch, yarn over and pull through loop. Yarn over and insert hook into the next stitch, yarn over and pull through loop. Yarn over and pull through all five loops on hook. Continue to work htr-cl until you reach the end of the row. Ch1 to finish and fasten off. DO NOT TURN.
Row 3: Attach Coevorden and ch1. Turn, yarn over and insert the hook into the bottom of the turning ch, yarn over and pull through loop. Yarn over and insert the hook into the next stitch, yarn over and pull through loop. Yarn over and pull through all five loops on the hook. Continue to work htr-cl until you reach the end of the row. Ch2 and turn.
Row 4: Yarn over and insert hook into the bottom of the turning ch, yarn over and pull through loop. Yarn over and insert hook into the next stitch, yarn over and pull through loop. Yarn over and pull through all five loops on hook. Continue to work htr-cl until you reach the end of the row. Ch1 to finish and fasten off. [78]
Rows 5 - 70: Repeat rows 3 and 4 for 70 rows or until your blanket is as long as you require. Use the chart on the following page to help with the colour changes.
The Border
I love the colour blocking on the border for this blanket, it has a more playful feel to it, rather then the normal colour all the way round. Adds a colourful finish to this stripey blanket.
Round 1: Attach Weert to any side and dc in each stitch until you reach the corner, dc, ch2, dc in the corner. Repeat these stitches all round the blanket until you come to the first dc and slip stitch to join and fasten off.
Round 2: Attach Goes to one of the longer sides of the blanket, ch3, this is the first tr, then tr to the corner. Work 2tr in the corner space. Attach Coevorden and work 2tr into the same corner space. Then tr to the next corner. Work 2tr in the corner space. Repeat this process with Delfzijl and then Dokkum and then fasten off.
Round 3 and 4: Attach Goes to the same side you started for round 2. So the same colour will be worked into the same colour. Ch3, then alternate between fptr and bptr down the side. When you reach the corner work a fptr and bptr in the last stitch in the same colour. Attach Coevorden then work a fptr and bptr in the first stitch in Coevorden. Then alternate between fptr and bptr down the side. Repeat this process with Delfzijl and then Dokkum, then fasten off.
When the border has been completed, sew in the ends, and block your blanket to help even out the sides and give the blanket a neater finish.
